God

Creation

The world exists because God freely made it.

Creation out of nothing (ex nihilo) means the universe is neither eternal nor an accident nor part of God, but a free act of his will.

Because it is made good, Christians affirm bodies, matter, work and beauty rather than treating them as obstacles to spirituality.

Key verses

  • For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth.

    Colossians 1:16
