Baptism
The sign of entry into the Christian community.
Baptism with water signifies cleansing from sin and union with Christ in his death and resurrection.
Traditions differ over whether infants are baptised on the basis of covenant promise or only believers on profession of faith; nearly all agree the practice was commanded by Jesus.
