Isn't it arrogant to say Jesus is the only way?
The short answer
Every worldview — including 'all religions are equally valid' — makes an exclusive claim. The Christian claim is not that Christians are better, but that only one person rose from the dead, and he said he was the way.
Everyone is exclusive about something
'All roads lead to God' is itself a claim that contradicts Islam, Buddhism and Christianity, all of which deny it. The pluralist is not standing above the argument; they have simply joined it with another position.
The famous parable of blind men and an elephant only works if the narrator can see the whole elephant — that is, if someone has the complete view after all.
The claim is about a person, not a club
Christianity does not say Christians are more moral or more deserving. It says the opposite: nobody earns it, and the gift is offered to everyone without exception — every nation, class and background. A message this humbling about its own adherents is a strange kind of arrogance.
What about those who never heard?
Scripture does not answer this as fully as we would like. What it does say: God is perfectly just, he judges people according to what they knew, and nobody will be able to accuse him of unfairness. Christians can leave that in his hands while taking seriously the responsibility to tell people.
"But what about…"
Sincere people in other religions can't all be wrong.
Sincerity is not the issue; truth is. You can be entirely sincere and mistaken about a train time. Christians should honour the sincerity of others while still asking which account is true.
You only believe this because of where you were born.
That cuts both ways — geography also shapes the sceptic. Where a belief came from tells you nothing about whether it is true. Christianity's fastest growth today is in Africa and Asia, not the West.
A loving God wouldn't send anyone to hell.
Scripture pictures judgement as God finally honouring a lifelong choice to live without him rather than dragging in the unwilling. Hell is a real warning precisely because he wants nobody there.
